Watching US - Canada last night I was struck by how much the shot clock & the faceoff rule changes have improved the game. The 'old' faceoff rules resulted in a lot of 'scrums' & no shot clock slowed the game considerably.
A tradition like no other. 11 conference titles. The men finished 1st (for the first time since 2017-18) and women finished 2nd, edging army in both cases.
The league titles were:
Men's & Women's Cross Country
Men's Soccer
Men's & Women's Swimming and Diving
Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field
Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field
Women's Rowing
Men's Tennis
This is Navy's 10th overall title, second only to Bucknell, who has 18 overall. Army's the only other school to win the overall title, with 4 total.
In the last decade, Navy has won 75 league titles. Boston University is second with 35 titles.
Anyone read this book? Interesting discussion of service academies during WW II, particularly Army. They stuck to a three year curriculum and cadets were exempt from the draft, which meant they could be stashed there for the football team. One player managed to remain in colleges for seven years! Curious coincidence that during that time Army went 27-0-1. Fascinating.
Navy is 41-15 in its last 56 games in Mens Basketball. Mids knock off MSM, 75-59. Great month of road tests coming up... LIpscomb, VMI, WVU, Towson, VCU, BU...
Fortunately, a group of USNA alumni got together and funded the defense of the midshipmen falsely accused, both of whose parents were in the police. The midshipman (Standage) graduated, is now #1 in his flight class, and hopes to fly F-35s.

The Ladies have qualified for the 7s Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC) tournament.
It will start for us on 28 April at 10:50AM in the Stadium versus Texas A&M at the Maryland Soccer Plex. We are in the Premier division.
CRC runs this as a festival with plenty of fan involvement opportunities. It spans three days.
The Rugby Network and voiceless youtube will transmit the matches.
Go Navy Rugby!
Navy has opened as a 17.5 point underdog to Notre Dame 26 August in Dublin.
With 17.5 points, Navy would have covered 6 of the last 10 meetings.
Navy got blown out in Dublin by ND 50-10 for their opener in 2012.
Navy has not won a season opener since beating Holy Cross 2019, subsequently losing to BYU, Marshall and Delaware.
Anyone else find it interesting that only BYU out of the new teams to the Big XII get both Texas and Oklahoma?
I suppose on one hand you want the traditional schools to get their last shot. But on the other hand you could create a narrative of the incoming pieces are better than those departing for the SEC by giving Cincy, Houston, and UCF the double feature.
NCAA announced today that it "will allow the clock to run after first downs..."
"The clock will continue to stop during the final two minutes of each half...."
I was gonna jam this into the lax thread where Mike commented on car driving by in the shot but maybe we can find more random pics
I believe this is fall 1980 at halftime when we were plebes. A classmate is the short dude up front. But the Chevy pickup truck on the field is killing me
