Getting two books about Navy sports when I was a mid was amazing. A Civil War was great, but The Last Amateurs was my favorite (blame it on tobacco road). I know he loved to drive some Navy fans crazy, and his call for the Academies to drop down might have been his biggest miss, but he was an integral part of Navy sports for a long while. RIP to a great writer.
