Yesterday was a Navy lax extravaganza for yours truly. Watched the first half of the Men's game against St Johns. The first period was pretty much a replay of last year........suffocating defense, solid goalkeeping and mostly painful to watch offense. The second period we looked MUCH better on O while continuing to abuse the Redmen on D. I would not want to be an Attackman playing against Chris Fennell.......he BAD. Plebe goalie Ryan Kern, from Salesianum HS in Wilmington via NAPS, is the real deal. We won all but one f/o with Brady Dove dominating. I had the final score at 8-1.
Went directly from there to Navy WLAX Fallball. First game was against Louisville. We played what looked like the first team and won 9-4. The score was a pretty good indicator of our dominance. The Collins twins are better than ever and mighty mite attacker Morgan Young was at her whirling best. Uber-Plebe lefty attacker Kelly Larkin, last year's WaPo PoY and Under Armour AA, set up behind the cage and had a goal and two lovely assists.
Second game was against St Joseph's. We played a lot of kids, including four goalies, and won 6-5 despite throwing the ball away a TON. Highlight was a coast-to-coast goal by Plebe Middie Annaliese Heyward......a fourth-gen Mid All-State kid from Charlotte. Local Plebe Middie Kayla Harris from Broadneck also showed some serious wheels.
The girls are now 4-0 this Fall. They stomped Georgetown 20-11 over there and beat the Australian National team on the Farragut grass field. They play Ohio State and the 'Cuse at NMCMS this afternoon. Will report.
