Women held their own. I know this is a not a usual topic for the forum, but this regatta is named in honor of Dr. Tim Hosea, my plebe year roommate in 1970-71. Tim was recruited as a swimmer but did not like the plebe swimming coach. On a whim, went out for crew and made the first plebe eight. On the last day of IRA's that spring, Coach Parker of Harvard walked up to him on the pier and asked if he'd like to go to Harvard. Tim rowed there for 3 years, got his medical degree from Cincinnati and went on to be a top-notch orthopedic surgeon, doing stints as the team doctor with the US rowing team, Princeton University and Rutgers University, where he took on the role of primary care physician for my son when he was on the rowing team at Rutgers. Tim stayed active with senior rowing and was the very definition of a hale fellow well met. Tim died unexpectedly while working outdoors a few years back and Princeton honored his memory by creating this regatta in his name.
