I did my first shore tour teaching NROTC at Holy Cross 1986-1988 and maintain some interest in Crusader football. The College of the Holy Cross went undefeated in 1987. The team capped its first 11-0 season by accepting the ECAC Division I-AA "Team of the Year" trophy as well as the Lambert Cup, significant of the top Division I-AA team in the East. The Crusaders were also ranked #1 in the final NCAA poll. Gordie Lockbaum played for HC 1984-1988, and as a two-way player, finished fifth and third for the Heisman Trophy as a junior and senior.
An excellent question is who Navy faces under center for home opener 31 August 2019. They are likely to have six quarterbacks on the roster when camp opens shortly.
Holy Cross Head Coach Chesney was the featured speaker at the Holy Cross Luncheon in Boston. A few items of note from his remarks:
“Clifford is currently in the driver's seat for the starting QB job after spring practice.”
Holy Cross Senior QB Emmett Clifford 6’0 197 Glenview IL
Started first three games last year, then benched for Geoff Wade.

- Asked about the transfer QBs on campus, he confirmed they were on campus and there is no done deal for a transfer QB. He noted there had been plenty of other potential transfers on campus this spring and they have scholarship money to fill needs
Rumored transfer:
LSU QB Andre Sale 6’4” 209 Little Rock, AR
2016: freshman at Tennessee Tech-saw no action and was redshirted
2017: redshirt freshman at Tenn Tech. Started the first 7 games but then lost his starting job to Luke Ward
Andre Sale 2017 Tennessee Tech Highlights
2018: sophomore at LSU--did not see any action. Seems logical to conclude that he transferred to LSU because he grew up in Baton Rouge as LSU fanatic and because his sister and both parents went there.

2019: Junior year perhaps Holy Cross??
